Autumn has started, the leaves are turning, October is here and the cooler weather is most certainly settling in - this means only one thing, it’s pumpkin season! Luckily, the South West is famed for its fang-tastic farms, so why not pull on your wellies and take the little ones to a ‘pick your own pumpkin’ event where they can take their pick of the crop straight from the field in time for Halloween.

West Town Farm Apple & Pumpkin Day

Set on the beautiful organic West Town Farm, their Apple & Pumpkin Day is an Exeter favourite. After picking your own pumpkin, enjoy carving it, taking a ride in a tractor-trailer, face-painting, storytelling and getting mucky with forest school activities. If that isn’t enough, there will be plenty of foody treats with a hauntingly good BBQ serving up their own organic produce alongside freshly made wood-fired pizzas.
Pips Pick Your Own

Pips Pick Your Own welcomes customers to pick seasonal fruit and veg and with more pumpkins than any other year, this is the best time to visit! With pumpkins ranging in size from munchkins to the scarily large end of the scale, you’ll find them in un-boo-lievable shapes and sizes. To avoid them selling out, don’t leave it too late to visit!
Darts Farm Pumpkin Festival

The Darts Farm Pumpkin Festival is not one to be missed. Not only can you pick your own pumpkin but there will be storytime from Spookley the Square Pumpkin, a farm walk, quiz and pumpkin decorating. Fancy dress is definitely encouraged at this event, whether your little pumpkin dresses up as a witch, wizard, skeleton or cat - be sure to make an effort to impress Spookley!
Thornes Farm Shop PYO Pumpkin Festival

As well as pumpkin picking, there’s plenty going on at this Pumpkin Festival to keep the kiddies entertained, including wand making, cupcake decorating, guess what’s in the scary box… And there’s a prize for everyone who comes in fancy dress, so be sure to make an effort. After a frighteningly exciting time, wind down in the cafe before heading home to carve pumpkins in time for Halloween!
Riverford Farm Pumpkin Day

Visit Wash Farm, home to Riverford Organic for their famous Pumpkin Day. It promises to have plenty going on to keep the whole family busy. Children can enjoy pumpkin picking, pumpkin decorating and storytelling… and for the adults, there will be live music, seed-potting and head-dress making. 2019 is also their very first plastic-free Pumpkin Day, making it a great opportunity for children to learn a little more about environmental awareness!
