Holidays in Dartmoor
At the heart of Devon is Dartmoor, an expanse of ancient, beautiful landscape. The wild moorland, woodland and tors are home to fascinating wildlife, including the famous Dartmoor Ponies, plus several archaeological sites of interest. From tough, unmarked trails to gentle pathways, there are hundreds of routes to explore on foot, bike or horseback. There are, of course, a great many facilities for outdoor activities, including kayaking, clay-pigeon shooting, fishing and golf.
A visit to one of the picturesque villages or towns on Dartmoor offers great independent shopping and dining, from quaint cafes and characterful pubs to Michelin award-winning restaurants. Amongst the many attractions are museums, art galleries, National Trust properties and animal-based centres. With such variety of things to do, plus breathtaking scenery, there’s no place quite like Dartmoor.
