Holidays in Exmouth
Where the River Exe meets the sea and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site begins, lies Exmouth. This picturesque seaside town boasts two miles of golden sand beaches, plus a wide range of watersports facilities, including sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Perhaps Exmouth is most known for having a Local Nature Reserve and SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) on the estuary, which is protected due to its importance as a habitat for migrating and wading birds, including the rare Avocet. The Exe Estuary trail provides a scenic off-road cycle path from Exmouth to Dawlish, and the South West Coast path is one of the many beautiful walking routes that pass through the town.
Exmouth has a lively shopping scene, with an indoor market and a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as entertainment facilities including a cinema and theatre. Events in the town include Exmouth Festival, a free celebration of food, music and arts. August brings the Kite Festival, a great family day out, where bright colours fill the sky as expert kite flyers perform in displays, competitions and battles. In September there is Spirit of the Exe: Exmouth Mussel Festival, a celebration bringing mussels, local wines and ales, cooking demonstrations, music and craft activities. With all this and much more going on, why not visit beautiful Exmouth?
