Holidays in Ilfracombe
A town with a truly creative atmosphere, Ilfracombe is known as a cultural and culinary hotspot in Devon. The thriving art scene is showcased through the many art galleries, Damien Hirst’s famous Verity sculpture, plus the annual Art Trail, a celebration of art, music, poetry and crafts in which artists hold workshops and open their homes and studios for visitors to view and buy their art. Ilfracombe hosts many unique events throughout the year, including South West Birdman, a competition where participants build their own flying transport and jump into the harbour to see who can “fly” the furthest, as well as live music, food, stalls and children’s entertainment throughout the day. All Things Morris is a two-day festival featuring Morris dancing and a classic and vintage vehicle show.
There is a great food scene here, with the maritime background of the town displayed through the abundance of local seafood on menus. Many attractions in the town provide year-round entertainment, including Ilfracombe Aquarium, the historic Tunnels Beaches, Ilfracombe Museum, and Ilfracombe Chocolate Emporium museum and shop. With all this and more, you’ll never be short of things to do when you visit Ilfracombe.
